This is a cycling event for the serious and casual rider who has a heart for refugees. Ride for Refugees is
focused on helping people and churches engage with and raise funds for refugees
locally and globally. Community and church groups are invited to apply to be a RIDE project,
enabling refugee-related programs to raise funds through RIDE.
RIDE, donate, volunteer, sponsor or partner with us so that this year’s events will bring even
greater benefits to our refugee projects.
Our RIDE History
Ride for Refugees began in 2004 with International Teams Canada, when twenty-five riders raised $25,000. Since then the RIDE expanded, taking place in various locations across Canada, the United States and Australia, raising over $1.9 million for the refugee programs of International Teams and approved RIDE partners.
The inaugural Australian RIDE took place on 17th October 2009 with 140 riders raising over $36,000 for various refugee causes both in Sydney and around the world. Funds raised through Ride for Refugees Australia, over the years, have gone towards International Teams Refugee Ministry in Austria, Malawi, Athens and Sydney. Over $490,000 has been distributed to these International Teams projects and approved RIDE Projects. These programs have included the House of Welcome Sydney, the Romero Centre Brisbane and There is Hope Malawi.
