RIDE for Refugees Australia is a non-competitive, family-friendly cycling fundraising event designed to raise awareness and funds for refugee ministries both in Australia and around the world.
In 2011 RIDE has taken place in three different locations: SYDNEY, BRISBANE and WYNYARD (Tasmania). All three events have been a great success this year and we are hoping to see them continue to grow in 2012.
YOU and your friends can really help make a difference in the lives of refugees and other displaced people around the world by riding, volunteering or giving towards this cause.
International Teams is helping refugees…
International Teams currently has 21 teams serving refugees in 14 countries. Those serving with International Teams are devoting their lives to ministries of compassion. And one of their greatest rewards is to see the life of a refugee transformed by the power of God.
There are various costs involved in order for these ministries to be effective. Our refugee centres in Athens, Greece and Traiskirchen, Austria require funding for food, coffee, literature, rent and heating. In Sydney, funding is needed for urgent personal needs of refugees, for running events where relationships of trust with refugees can be built, and for transporting refugees (including fuel and vehicle upkeep).
Our refugee workers also need funds for their personal living expenses as they are not salaried, but trust God to provide for their needs through individuals who believe that refugee work can make an eternal difference in the lives of refugees.
By joining in the RIDE for Refugees, you have the opportunity to meet some of these needs.
Helping a movement of global and local organisations helping refugees…
International Teams is one of many organisations involved in caring for refugees locally and across the globe. RIDE also gives you the opportunity to ride and raise funds for other local or overseas church or community refugee programs. Complete a Ride Partner Grant application and, pending approval, funds from RIDE will be shared with your program too.

RIDE for Refugees in Sydney on Saturday 3rd September was an amazing day. Thank you for riding, volunteering, cheering and giving of your time, money and energy to RIDE for Refugees.
Brisbane riders on Saturday 15th October braved the pouring rain and turned out in force to beat the elements. Thank you for getting on your bikes and riding for the lives of refugees.
Wynyard RIDE was more for the hard core riders, an amazing 80k of up and down hill all day long, those that took up the challenge hard to work hard on the day but helped make a difference to refugees, thanks to you all and all the great volunteers.
